History of the Club

In 1978 the Shallow Lake & District Figure Skating Club was formed. In 2003, the Shallow Lake club celebrated 25 years of being a proud member of Skate Canada. (Northwest Area of the Central Ontario Section www.skatecanada-centralontario.com).

All club members are registered with Skate Canada and assigned a Skate Canada number. Your Skate Canada number does not change from year to year.

The club is committed to meeting the needs of skaters whether they are a beginner in the learn to skate program or they are a senior skater.

Our Coaches

  Kris Dawson - Head Coach

My skating career began at the age of 4 in Durham and 30 plus years later I am still at it.

I am NCCP level 2 Certified in FreeSkate and Dance and have coached in numerous clubs in Grey and Bruce Counties since 1992. I have experience teaching CanPowerSkate and Synchronized Skating, but my love is teaching the CanSkate and StarSkate programs.

I am happy to be returning to the Shallow Lake club again this year and I am very excited to see how far our "little" club can grow!

Sheena Whitelock

I am an NCCP level 1 Certified Figure Skating Coach. I became a coach at the age of 18 years old, and I have had the pleasure of coaching in several clubs in the area, including Wiarton Skating Club, Lion's Head, Owen Sound and Saugeen Shores. My coaching experience consists of assisting with or being the Head Coach for the CanSkate program in all of these clubs, and coaching both group lessons and private lessons in all three disciplines. I am looking forward to being a part of the Shallow Lake Skating Club this year!
